About
Jos Hoppenbrouwers (1982, Someren) is a contemporary artist based in the Netherlands with a graffiti and graphic background.
He spent most of his youth drawing and painting, as befits a true self-taught artist. All this with a healthy dose of curiosity about everything that has shape and color. During his time as a young adult he came into contact with graffiti and a whole new world opened up for him.
After studying Graphic and Multimedia Design, he continued as an independent enterprising artist.
Previously he worked a lot on request, but for a number of years he has focused exclusively on autonomous work.
Identity
In recent decades he has invested a lot of time and energy in style development, creating his own unique touch, expression and identity.
Every day he is busy developing new concepts into a work of art.
Jos really enjoys developing recognizable scenes in combination with a lot of dynamics, layers and transparencies. He prefers acrylic paint in combination with flat brushes on a linen canvas.
Style
His style can be characterized as a bit surrealistic, impressionistic and all with a raw edge.
For those with an observant eye, the graphic elements such as reflections, alignments and transparencies are also noticeable. The colors are specially mixed for each new work of art, but not everything is filled in faithfully. Eliminating the color black provides a calm look and more subtlety in the final result.
His preference for use of color is mainly saturated colors with many gradations and a refined contrast. Here and there all this is supplemented with bright color elements.
